We are seeking an Early Childhood Educator to run the after school program in our Early Years Division (Preschool). The hours for this position are Monday to Friday, 3:00 to 6:00pm and begins September 3rd 2018.

Job Description

The After Care Program is designed to allow students to enjoy both structured and unstructured activities at the end of the school day in a safe and caring environment. The After Care supervisor develops a rich variety of activities for the students, including outdoor activities. The program runs daily from 3:30pm until 6:00pm.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will:

  • have RECE certification
  • be familiar with procedures and policies outlined in the Child Care and Early Years Act
  • have experience with young children from ages 2.5 – 4, preferably in the role of a teacher, coach, or mentor
  • be able to multi-task
  • understand how to provide developmentally appropriate behavioural guidance
  • maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming After Care environment
  • be patient and loving
  • have strong communication skills
  • foster relationships with students and their parents
  • maintain confidentiality about children, their families, and other employees inside and outside of the school
  • complete other duties as required by the Head of School

As a condition of employment, a clear Vulnerable Sector Screening will be required, as well as Standard First Aid/CPR Level C certification. (Kindergarten to Grade 8)

Richland Academy is a warm and welcoming International Baccalaureate candidate school in Richmond Hill, Ontario. Richland is currently recruiting supply teachers.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience teaching Kindergarten, primary, junior or intermediate students.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the curriculum and assessment practices according to the Ontario Ministry of Education requirements for teaching at the primary/junior/intermediate level.
  • Sound class management practices.
  • Enthusiasm, passion, and a willingness to participate in all areas of school life.
  • Relevant university qualifications (e.g., Minimum Bachelor of Education with primary/junior/intermediate designation)
  • Certification from the Ontario College of Teachers.
  • Proof of a clear Vulnerable Sector Screening Report will be required before beginning teaching.
  • Experience in an International Baccalaureate school is an asset.

The Position

The successful candidate for our Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) Supply position will operate in the classroom as a co-learner, researcher and teaching partner with their students. The position includes providing supervision and age appropriate learning for groups of students as part of the extended day program.

Qualifications and Expertise

The ideal candidate will have:

  • a positive outlook on life
  • strong communication skills (oral and written)
  • understanding of the stages and theories of child development
  • proven ability to communicate in a professional manner with children, parents, staff and the general public
  • ability and willingness to follow organizational policies and procedures in an appropriate and timely manner
  • strong organization and time management skills
  • an open mind and a willingness to learn new things
  • college or university qualifications in Early Childhood Education or equivalent
  • membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators
  • knowledge and understanding of the Reggio Emilia Approach is an asset
  • experience in an IB (International Baccalaureate) school is an asset
  • ability to speak Mandarin, Cantonese, Russian, or Farsi is an asset

 

Please note: Current Standard First Aid/CPR certification, TB clearance, and Vulnerable Sector Screening clearance are required for this position.
