Richland Academy: Curriculum

Leadership. Richland Academy is proud to produce students who think and act globally, and we strongly encourage community involvement. Whether in Kindergarten or at the Intermediate level, Richland provides an array of opportunities for skill development in leadership. These include Reading Buddy programs, voluntary help with assemblies, contribution to food drives, and Conflict Resolution/Role Model initiatives.

Study Skills. We strive to bring out the spirit of lifelong learning in every one of our students. We accomplish this feat by not limiting our curriculum to factual and conceptual knowledge—we also teach learning techniques. Listening skills, comprehension exercises, test study, and public speaking are among the techniques we employ to develop fortitude in writing and literacy, while research projects teach students the art of deciphering large amounts of information. The use of day planners is a key element of our organizational and time management instruction. A concentration in study skills means that Richland produces students who excel throughout their education and graduate with a lasting enthusiasm for learning.

Character Education. At Richland we ensure that the initial years of your child’s formal education provide them with enduring life skills. Accountability plays a fundamental role in our school and it results in students who are independent, courteous, and respectful. Conflict resolution, problem solving, and communication skills, along with classical modes of discipline, are the pillars of our behavioural approach. The resultant creation of a positive self-concept will grant your child the key to a lifetime of confidence and success.
