Richland Academy: A Message from the Principal

In my experience as an educator I have observed that children can and want to learn at a more sophisticated level than to which we have grown accustomed. The inception of Richland Academy stemmed from a yearning for an educational system wherein all children have the right and the ability to reach their fullest potential: in academics, in health, and in character.

You want the best possible education for your child, and in Richland you will find a place where students uncover a passion for lifelong learning—a passion that will carry their educations far into the future. Our future world is a globalized one; one in which we will need to be adaptable as much as we will need to rely on each others’ help. At Richland we do not constrain ourselves to our curriculum, making way for exceptionally fast development and providing support for the occasional bump in the road. We teach our students how to learn, leaving them able to surmount the challenges they will encounter later in life. At Richland we support each other, in an atmosphere of mutual respect, open communication, and teamwork.

Academic excellence is paramount, in language, in mathematics, in social and natural sciences. We build on the principles of Core Knowledge, a mode of teaching that develops well-rounded students who possess a relevant and lasting education. Through our art, music, physical education, and naturalization programs we foster the development of personality, healthy attitudes, and an awareness of self. We adopt the principles of the Future Aces and virtues programs to instill strength of character that serves as the foundation on which everything else builds.

At Richland we are proud of our school, and we are committed to making it better. We take pride in the strength of our relationship with our community, with our city, and with our world. We are proud of our teachers and also of our parents, who are the teachers behind the scenes. And most of all we are proud of our students, who continue to astound us with their achievements, their capacity for new information, and their dedication to learning about the world around them.
