We believe every child is capable, curious, and ready to act as an agent of change. That belief shapes how we grow leaders at Richland. Our Learning Buddies program connects younger and older students, while opportunities such as the Community Project and EcoSchools initiatives let students lead their own action projects.
LEADERSHIP IN ACTION
From the earliest years, students are encouraged to take on increasing leadership opportunities through student-led assemblies, organizing talent shows, carnival days, wellness clubs and EcoSchools initiatives. The IB Middle Years Programme Community Project mandates students to identify real-world needs and design projects for positive impact.
By empowering students to lead with empathy, creativity, and purpose, we help them develop the confidence an skills to become thoughtful leaders both within our school and beyond.
Growing and Giving: As part of his MYP Community Project, Yusuf worked hard in our school greenhouse. He harvested and donated two boxes of produce to 360kids, supporting local youth in need.
REAL WORLD IMPACT
Leadership is not about holding a title, but about making a positive contribution to the world around us. Across all grade levels, students participate in inquiry-driven action projects that address environmental, social, and community issues. These experiences help students understand that even small actions can create meaningful change.
EcoSchools: students lead sustainability efforts, from waste reduction to campus greening.
PYP Exhibition: students tackle real issues like cyberbullying, online scam prevention, and sports accessibility.
MYP Community Projects: students take action on mental health, the environment, inclusion, animal welfare, and local charities.
Leadership begins with empathy. Service begins with action that creates meaningful and lasting change.
GIVING BACK
Throughout the year, students, families, and staff come together to support local and global communities through a variety of meaningful initiatives.
Our annual Out in the Cold campaign with 360kids has become a cherished Richland tradition, bringing our community together to support individuals experiencing homelessness during the winter months.
Students also participate in 360kids Adopt a Youth Program, Food Bank collections, clothing drive, environmental initiatives and countless charitable campaigns that respond to emerging community needs.
Through these experiences, students develop compassion, social responsibility, and a lifelong commitment to serving others.
